The Effects of World War Two in Europe

After the war much of Europe was in ruins and in need of repair. The western allies thought that the liberated nations should be able to chose how to govern themselves. The Soviets favored the idea of all the nations that they had liberated be communist with this tensions between the U.S. and the Soviet Union grew. The allies had decide to split Germany in half with one side belonging to the Soviets and one for the western allies. As the 1940's came to an end a new war began to emerge and would be known as the cold war.
